Current Position at OMG: Software Engineer
About the Position: I’m a full stack engineer so I work on all parts of our OrderMyGear web app from the pages you see on the site to the backend processes that go on behind the scenes. My biggest contribution so far has been the work I did for global order management.
Finding OMG: I found the company on my own through Glassdoor. In the couple of years before coming to OMG, I decided to cut out recruiters from my job search and OMG was one of the few companies that stood out as a place I really wanted to work, both culture and mission-wise. Based on employee reviews, it also seemed like a place where people enjoy what they do.
Hobbies: I enjoy cooking a lot, especially for others. My grandparents lived with us when I was young, so I ate a lot of traditional Chinese dishes as a kid and I love recreating them on my own now. A lot of my hobbies are homey, arts and crafts type stuff, so things like gardening and growing my own veggies, knitting my own clothes, and messing with tech on my own time to build tools for personal use, like setting up a home server.

The #1 Thing Prospective OMG’ers Should Know: OMG is a great place for people to grow their careers or simply figure out what direction they want to go. This is the first place I’ve worked where my priorities and what I want to do in the future was taken into consideration and built into my own personal goals. Not that there aren’t times when I come in, finish my work, and go home, but I like that I can be as involved in my career development as I want to be.

Current Position at OMG: Senior Director, Engineering
Finding OMG: I previously worked for some of the OrderMyGear seed investors at another company. Once they decided to invest in OMG, they reached out to me to see if I would be interested in joining the technology Team. After I got a chance to meet with the founders, Kent and James, I was convinced that I wanted to be a part of this growing company.
What Makes OMG Different: The people! My wife makes fun of me for not having friends outside of work, but it’s awesome to get to spend every weekday with people I truly care about and enjoy being around.
Favorite Offsite Event: Rangers Day. I don’t even like baseball, but I love Rangers Day. The entire Team suits up in the same shirt, we load up the busses, we go to the ball field, and we cheer on the Texas Rangers. It’s a great opportunity to mix and mingle with people outside of the engineering department and I always learn something new about a fellow OMG’er. I love that I own ALL of the Rangers Day t-shirts and I’m excited to keep adding to my collection!
Favorite Part of OMG Office: The Cadillac emblem. It is an amazing experience to work in a building that has so much history. eCommerce platforms were not a thing back when the building was being used to service and sell Cadillacs, but the spirit of what we are doing is the same. We are the Cadillac of group eCommerce software platforms and we will continue in the same tradition of delivering excellence.
